Luigi uses the Green Shell Bros. move

About

Hi, my name is Robbie Kincaid. I love all things video games, programming, and technology. I like to stay abreast of new technologies and buy expensive tech (working on that bad habit).

Video games

I enjoy a whole lot of different types of games. At the top of that list you’ll usually see RPGs. At the tippity-top of my favorite game series is the Legend of Zelda series (with A Link to the Past being my favorite).

I love turn-based RPGs as well. My favorite is Super Mario RPG — lots of fond memories of that one. Other that that, I play a wide variety of stuff, from Pathfinder/D&D to Monster Hunter. I’m a Nintendo nut, but I enjoy playing stuff on PC too.

Programming

I have a love/hate relationship with programming. I enjoy the process of thinking through the problem I’m trying to solve and trying to code it into life (though many times I end up over-engineering my solutions). The blog I made prior to this one was actually hand-coded in Django, but it quickly grew in scope to unattainable levels, so I decided to come back to WordPress (I haven’t used this platform in AGES and it’s grown tremendously).

I decided to step away from coding my own CMS to make more time for other projects I want to take a stab at. I’d love to develop some simple games to get my feet wet and I’d like to try to make an emulator as well.

I got my start in programming around age twelve. My best friend has always been a super talented programmer. He was making stuff in Game Maker and we thought we should make a “studio” to develop games. I started with web design shortly after doing extremely basic (and non-standard) in Word because my friends and I wanted to develop a Zelda magazine. After that I learned more and more and had a series of Legend of Zelda fan sites I had built and operated for a bit.

Many years (and a bunch of failed site ideas later), I decided to pursue programming professionally, work on my degree, and create this blog as one of my creative outlets. We’ll see where things end up going, but I’ve really missed having an operational site to just write about whatever I want!

Technology

Not much to say here. I love all sorts of tech. I’m an Android afficionado (mainly use Samsung devices) and I of course love personal computers and video game consoles (mostly Nintendo). I also love trying new laptops. As of right now, I use a 2024 Asus G16 for gaming and a Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge for schoolwork and projects. Windows on ARM has came along way and it’s became my daily driver for pretty much everything that isn’t gaming.

OLED has quickly become one of my favorite display technologies (gotta love those true blacks, man!) but a good LCD is always nice!

That’s pretty much it for me. If you want to know anything, feel free to reach out. I’m not sure if I’ll put links to many of my socials (I don’t use a ton of them much anyway), but if I do, look me up there too! Peace!
